Center pivot irrigation for sale: compare the full proposal

Before the brief

A system name and a price

Pipework, sprinklers and controls may appear in the offer without explaining what the buyer must supply.

After scope review

A configuration and an action list

Record field conditions, included equipment, open design questions and destination support responsibilities.

Use a planning total to expose missing costs

Enter figures from a proposal in USD to add your own equipment, freight, installation and spare-parts allowances. This simple tool adds your entries; it does not estimate a selling price, taxes, financing or savings. Empty entries count as zero, so a low total can mean an incomplete scope.

Ask suppliers to identify the same quantity and currency before transferring their figures. Confirm the trade term and list destination charges separately. If two proposals include different controls or commissioning work, retain them as distinct options instead of forcing their totals into a single comparison.

Premium equipment may suit a buyer seeking specific controls or support, while a budget-friendly package may require more buyer coordination. Request the exact differences in material, parts, documentation and service; the preference alone provides no evidence about supplier performance.

Practice the next purchasing conversation

These are illustrative decision exercises, not completed customer cases.

A seasonal replacement package

A grower knows the pivot model but has no nozzle schedule. The next step is to record installed nozzle codes, regulator information and drop spacing. Ask the supplier to identify the matching parts and flag substitutions. The useful outcome is a compatibility record before purchasing, not a promised improvement in coverage.

A field awaiting water measurements

A project has a field layout and target area, but available flow is uncertain. Request a preliminary configuration with its assumptions visible. Arrange measurement of flow and pressure under the intended operating condition, then return those figures for review. Avoid treating an indicative offer as a finalized design.

Two offers with different support

One proposal includes commissioning; another ends at packed equipment. Ask both suppliers for installation responsibilities, travel charges, training scope and the spare-parts route. Keep the cost worksheet tied to the same destination. The comparison then shows which tasks the buyer must arrange separately.

Prepare for start-up and seasonal work

Request the manufacturer's operating and maintenance instructions for the selected configuration. Before the season, have the responsible installer identify inspection, electrical and pressure checks. Sourcing guidance cannot prescribe a safe start-up procedure for unknown equipment. Keep model documents and service contacts with the accepted order, and use the inquiry options to name any replacement requirement.

Share what is settled—and what still needs checking

Describe the water source and quality, design flow and operating pressure, field area and installation boundary. Add an optional budget, currency and order basis so the supplier comparison follows your priorities.
